Message from John Liotti, CEO and Co-Founder

As we enter this season of Thanksgiving, I want to thank you for walking with us.

Recently, you may have received a letter from me asking you to support Able Works our two core programs, LiveAble and FutureProfits (read the letter here). I shared a story about Ignacio, a student who didn’t think his future was important until his FutureProfits Coaches engaged him in a lesson on career paths. This is the critical shift that we need to spark in every young mother and high school student that we serve. Teresa, a LiveAble alumna, said, “LiveAble makes me feel important and worth investing in.”

This semester, we are serving 390 high school students, and 75 families. Alongside lessons on budgeting and credit scores, we are sending a message of hope and self-confidence and, together with the students and young mothers we serve, crafting pathways forward to stability and economic mobility.

You are a vital part of our team. With you, we can foster change and transformation for our youth and young mothers. On behalf of all of us at Able Works, thank you for journeying with us!

John Liotti

Welcome to FutureProfits, Umeeka!

We are excited to welcome Umeeka Sheena to our FutureProfits team as our Associate Program Manager! Umeeka has worked with youth and students for many years, including as a Teaching Fellow at Ronald McNair Middle School in East Palo Alto. A native of East Palo Alto, Umeeka completed her BA at UC Merced and earned a Master’s at Northcentral University in Psychology. She is thrilled to be working with our Coaches and students towards economic resilience and mobility.

Umeeka says, “I am excited and proud to be part of a team that emphasizes the importance of community and collaboration.”

Welcome, Umeeka! You can contact Umeeka here.

Thanks to the generosity of the Sobrato Family Foundation and an anonymous donor, we have again been issued a matching challenge of up to $49,150!

Will you stand with us to serve youth and young mothers? Giving is as easy as 1-2-3:
